Hardware Unboxing: Beats Solo3 Wireless Headset

Christmas 2018, a day when probably every single grown adult (and most kids) in the local area received something that was electronics related — whether it be a new gaming console, a new smartphone, a Google Home, a must have game, online shopping card, peripheral, or even a new headset.

While for the last little while I have been utilizing my HyperX Cloud Alpha headset for absolutely everything – from gaming to jamming to music – I was lucky enough to be surprised by Santa this year with the most epic of a headset under the tree….

The Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones – Mickey’s 90th Anniversary Edition

Now if anyone really knows me, my entire life I have been an avid Mickey Mouse fan — classic Big Mickey is the best — so I was more than ecstatic to be gifted with such an amazing device.

The packaging speaks for itself, high gloss display of the contents, including the grey Mickey embossed headset, the unique carry case and the markings for the celebration of the 90th birthday of Mickey.

Once you got the label slip off the box (which is extra snug so takes some persistence) and the lid off, you are greeted with an exclusive Mickey 90th Anniversary Collectors Pin. How neat!!

Below that is the prime prize, the case and the headphones. The case is formed in a pocket shape as the headphones utilize the Beats style of easy folding for compact storage. The case is made of a microfiber material, similar to that of material used in the Mickey Mouse ears you can buy at the Disney theme parks.

Tucked away at the bottom is a handy clip, the needed Universal USB charging cable (USB-A to USB Micro-B) and a 3.5mm remote talk cable. Both are very useful for plug and play for wired connectivity when the power on the headset is depleting, or if you out jamming to your tunes on the go and need to accept a phone call.

While cables needed for charging and on the go are nice….its a great feeling to know these can be tucked away for later.

Now for the best part of the entire box… the headset itself.

The headset comes folded carefully based on the flex hinges of the headband, which are also where the headband extension points are for those who have the larger head or just want a looser fit.

The headset is covered in Mickey image logos, the Beats branding and even engravings for the Solo3 and Wireless unique branding for the device.

The ear cups are made of a soft ergonomic material that is comfortable on the ears, as this is a on ear style headset versus the more common over ear type that is on the market.

The ear pieces are the heart of the headset. One side is the power on/off switch and is also where you plug in for recharge. There is a micro light system along the base of 5 LEDs showing the “fuel gauge” for how much power the headphones still have for wireless play, and will blink in a sequence when charging. The other side is you main controls of volume up/down and the play/pause.

The most convenient feature of this headset is the ability to have the wireless connectivity over Bluetooth, There is nothing worse then having to take off your headset because you need to go to another room for another minute….no issue!

I have already charged these up and am ready to go. Check back later for my personal review of this amazing new device.
