Game Unboxing: Bears vs Babies

Mathew Inman (aka The Oatmeal) has created web comics since 2009, and with his unique style of artistry and humour, its hard to pass by any of his work.  Back in 2015 he teamed up with Elan Lee and Shane Small to create their first ever game ‘Exploding Kittens’ and released it via Kickstarter, where it went on to break all sorts of Kickstarter records.  In 2016 they came up with another game, and launched it on Kickstarter once again.  This game is called Bears vs Babies.

The package arrived to us in a plain cardboard box with ‘Bears vs Babies’ packing tape sealing all the box seams.  With excitement Tali and I cut into the tape carefully, eager to get inside and view our kickstarter goodies inside.  We followed this kickstarter as soon as we found out about it, after helping to kickstart Exploding Kittens.

Inside the box, we found a shipping invoice, with an amazingly funny personalised comic dedicated directly to us.  We received a similar comic for Exploding Kittens, and from Joking Hazard.  We also find the NSFW expansion deck, and the hairy Bears vs Babies game.

We opened the expansion pack first, which contains 30 NSFW cards, and a condom (to prevent the babies).  The cards are all  of excellent quality and have some very dirty humour illustrated on them.

The main game box is covered with a nice bear fur coat (it might not really be bear) of a light brown colour.  Inside you find 2 packs of cards, a fabric game mat and the rules.  The fabric game mat is a nice touch, something that wasn’t included in the Exploding Kittens kickstarter.  The rules are clear and concise, but state blatantly on the front cover, to check out the rules video on YouTube instead of reading the rules.

As we just opened the game, at the time of writing this, we have not had a chance to play the game, but if you watch the game rules video below and decide if this game is something you would be interested in.
