Helsinki, Finland – September 10th, 2015 – Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment Ltd is pleased to introduce the Nibblers, a daring group of fish out of water venturing from the waves to explore the Lands Above – and partake of its forbidden fruits.
In the Nibblers’ eponymous island-hopping adventure, the gang search for oranges, pears, bananas, plums, rosehips – anything as long as it’s tasty and matches in a row of three or more! – and try to evade the pesky reptilians at the top of this brave new world’s food chain. Coral, Octo, Bouncer and the rest of the toothy gang use their special abilities to knock out obstacles, fend off the ravenous lizards and help players advance through more than 200 unique and puzzling levels – with new ones added all the time.
By connecting to Facebook, players can also challenge their friends in the leaderboards, or cooperate by sharing special gifts that help each other survive and thrive in the fruit-frenzied quest for a new life on dry land.
“We’re thrilled to bring a completely new IP to the mobile gaming scene,” says Heini Kaihu, Head of Studio at Rovio. “Nibblers may be newly evolved creatures, but fans of our other games will recognize the Rovio touches – strong characters, beautiful visuals, and a lush soundtrack recorded with live orchestra and soloists. This will be a game you want to return to again and again.”
Nibblers was soft launched in Canada, Finland, New Zealand and Australia at the beginning of the summer.
“The results in those territories have been amazing, with a very high player engagement,” adds Executive Producer Teemu Hämäläinen. “With early feedback from the soft launch, we’ve also been able to polish the game and develop the gameplay to a very high and compelling standard. We are proud to welcome Nibblers to the global Rovio family.”
The game is available now in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
