Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot introduced the Pirate adventure game, Skull and Bones, as “building off the legacy of one of our most popular games,” obviously referring to the ship battles in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. It was also made aware that this team building the game was the same studio that handled the ship battles in that very game.
The game is designed to be a multiplayer experience, with players shaping the world around them. Gamer’s will battle to become the most notorious Pirate across the open seas. The game was shown off via its Loot Hunt mode, a 5 v 5 battle with each ship controlled by a player, commanding their own ship as opposed to everyone working together on a single vessel.
Skull and Bones will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in fall 2018. Ubisoft has mentioned that at some point in the future, a Beta will occur, allowing players to get their hands on it early.
