Shigeru Miyamoto himself took to the stage with a plastic toy blaster replica in hand and joined the stage with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot to talk about the title.
This wasn’t the first talk of Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle as the title has been consistently leaked for quite some time, with LetsPlayVideoGames’s Laura Kate Dale leaking the game nearly nine months ago, despite constant denial from both Ubisoft and Nintendo.
Developed by Ubisoft’s Milan and Paris teams, The combination of Mario and the Rabbids feels like a turn-based X-Com for kids, with similar depth and strategy as the popular series. Players will take control of Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Yoshi, as well as a cast of Mushroom Kingdom flavored Rabbids.
Characters can perform combo’s, jumping attacks and a wide variety of abilities to gain the upper hand against their opponents. The game features a few phases to its encounters; Adventure phases will allow players to explore the environment, with combat phases allowing your team to combat your foes as each of the colorful Rabbids and Mario-based characters.
The game looks just as bright and colorful as anything we’ve seen from Nintendo and certainly looks to be a great time and it’s not too far off until you can get your hands on it.
