Walking around Pax West 2016 you could easily get lost in some of the amazing booths around the convention halls. One booth that caught my eye in particular was that of Hob. I wasn’t aware of the game when I first showed up to Pax on Friday morning, but it was one game that I was sure to be excited for by the time Pax was over.
I had the chance to take in the booth, check out the game and schedule an interview on the spot for Runic Games’ newest creation; Hob.
What is Hob?
Hob is a suspenseful adventure game set on a stunning and brutal worl
d in disarray. Slowly uncover your role in saving the vibrant life around you while you explore stunning landscapes, solve puzzles, and transform the planet itself.
Early in the game the character you play as will have their arm replaced with a metal one during an attack. This arm has a few different abilities like being used as a grappling hook, a shield, or push and pull parts of the world around you.
Wordless Narrative Presented without text or dialogue, Hob’s story is revealed as you explore the planet and interact with the strange lifeforms that inhabit it.
Transform the World by solving puzzles and repairing the planet. The landscape will change before your eyes, opening new areas to uncover and explore.
Grapple, Punch and Warp through the world! Use your mechanical glove-arm abilities for traversal as well as combat.
Adventure in an open world, explore ruins, befriend sprites, and battle the rogue creatures that threaten their extinction.
Hob looked really amazing. Character animations are fluid, environments look great, and visually the whole game just looks solid.
Considering Runic Games’ track record with games like Torchlight and Torchlight 2, Hob should be another amazing experience when it releases on PC and PS4.
