Game-Refraction: Jeff’s Top 5 Movies of 2015

It’s safe to say that 2015 was a great year for movies. While there are a few movies I wish I had the chance to have watched before the end of the year, this is a list of my picks for the top 5 of this category.

5. Inside Out.

It was a toss-up for my 5th spot between this and Ant Man. While Ant Man is a great film, Inside Out just gets to you emotionally and gives you a big hug when you need it. With great characters and a truly well told story, Inside Out is a film that anyone can identify with and really enjoy. Easily my favorite Pixar film so far.

4. Mad Max: Fury Road.

There are not many directors that can keep a car chase going for the whole movie and keep you on the edge of your seat for nearly the whole film, but George Miller is one of those who can. Amazing visuals and really interesting characters make this truly worthy of any top list of movies for the year.

3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

An entertaining movie from start to finish that more than lives up to the hype. The Force Awakens has strong lead characters and enough fan service of the former cast to entertain both newcomers and faithful fans of the force alike. I had a great time with this film and look forward to seeing it again and again.

2. Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This is a movie that those who know me will be shocked that it didn’t land #1. While Age of Ultron is a fantastic film, I do feel that it lacked a strong final act like the prior Avengers film had. Strong character moments and great dialogue from Joss Whedon make this a great film overall, and worthy of being my second favorite movie of the year.

1. The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

What a surprise. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a truly stellar film. Everything from the directing to some of the most impressive casting I have seen this year, this film is well made in every respect. There are so many moments in this film that just stand out as impressive and memorable. I truly enjoyed this movie and can’t speak any more highly of it. A must watch and certainly a must buy.
